Barossa Accommodation

Angaston Mews Apartments

– Consisting of four self-contained two-bedroom apartments, Angaston Mews is a well-appointed option for families or couples travelling together. They contain all amenities you would expect in an apartment, including a fully equipped kitchen. There is also undercover parking, a patio/balcony and a communal barbecue area. Kaesler Cottages

If you want to be even closer to the action, Kaesler winery has three cottages onsite in a charming garden setting. There are no kitchen facilities, aside from a microwave, fridge and toaster, but the location is just on the edge of Nuriootpa and not far from Tanunda, so dining options abound. The Kaesler cellar door is also highly recommended, and they run vineyard tours of some of Australia’s oldest vines.

Kingsford

If luxury is your thing, the recently renovated Kingsford is for you. Renovated is an understatement, though, with the 1856 sandstone two-storey homestead gaining an adjoining contemporary lodge, and the resort having a total of 16 lavish suites. A pool, open air ‘bush bath’, restaurant, two bars, deeply stocked cellar and even a subterranean ‘kegelbahn’, where the German game of skittles that has persisted in the Barossa gets a decidedly modern treatment are all part of the show.

The property sleeps four, with each bedroom having its own bathroom. Prices are very reasonable.

Situated on a small vineyard with an adjacent micro-winery, Rogasch Cottage is a two-bedroom, fully-equipped house with a private plunge pool, driving range and cellar. This is boutique stuff, but with a charmingly lo-fi bent, and experiences ranging from fireside suppers and picnics by the creek to grape picking. Run by owners Luke and Jan, who also live on the property, they’ll even babysit the little ones while you head out to dinner.

The suites vary from those made for getaways for couples, to ones that can accommodate families, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The Louise is also home to the acclaimed Appellation restaurant, while the recently opened Contour bar and kitchen is a more relaxed “diner-style” venue.
