The Wineslinger 2021 list of Australia’s top places for wine fun is here, with Tasmania’s Top 5 a neat snapshot of why the island state is such a wine lover’s paradise.
With its gentle autumn days and mild summers, Tasmania is the perfect locale for cool-climate winemaking, and that is now matched with wine-focused venues that are the envy of the mainland. The island may be small, but its bar and restaurant scene certainly isn’t. And while the best local offerings trickle their way into the picturesque hubs of Hobart and Launceston, you’re just as likely to find sought-after international gems on these lists.
From modern and sophisticated bars to good old-fashioned pubs, the Tassie wine-drinking experience isn’t easy to classify. One thing is hard to miss, though. Always a state justifiably proud of all they reared, grew and made, Tasmania is not so parochial these days. The best of Tasmanian produce still shines on the plate, but the liquid offer is now proudly pitted against the best the world can offer. It’s a dynamic scene orchestrated by committed folks who really know what they’re doing. Here’s where to taste Tassie’s best.
Here are Tasmania’s Top 5 places for wine fun in 2021

It’s a fantastically mixed bunch, but one thing they all have in common is they love wine, and they want to share that love with you. Whether you’re in for the long haul or a quick drink and a snack, these Wineslingers just want to see you, and to share what they know, share what they love.
Largely untouched by recent hospitality disruptions, this quaint corner of the country remains steadfast and stalwart in delivering incredible wine and unbelievable seafood with no shortage of good times in sight.
Now is as good a time as any to taste Tasmania and remind yourself how much you love your regular wine-focused venues by both paying them a visit and getting your vote in for the People’s Choice. The Young Gun of Wine website also has detailed profiles on all the Wineslinger Awards top venues, with everything you need to know to find your next favourite haunt.
