Elan Vineyard & Gallery

17 Turners Road, Balnarring Victoria 3926, Australia

"Selma and Jonathan Lowther planted their first grape vines in 1981. The vineyard was planted on a family property that was purchased in the mid 60's. The property once apple growing and cattle grazing was now broadened to include a vineyard. In the early 80's a lone vineyard in the area, now it is surrounded by large plantings. Over the next decade their vineyard was expanded with new grape varieties and winery built onsite. The original varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz and Chardonnay with the addition of Pinot Noir, Gamay and Gargarnega complete the vineyard. The vineyard is one of the older plantings on the Peninsula, with new trellising and viticulture techniques to produce wines that express their site. The vineyard has a north/east aspect at 120 metres altitude with views to Westernport Bay giving it cooling Southerly winds. A Cellar Door that is a hidden gem offering warm hospitality." – Elan Vineyard & Gallery
