“Best described as experimental, innovative and caring winemakers, they’re viticulturalists first.
Kathleen Quealy and Kevin McCarthy made their mark as icons of the Mornington Peninsula in the 1990s, with the first plantings of Pinot Grigio/Pinot Gris leading to a flurry of interest that has not abated.
The winemaking and viticultural practices of Quealy express tradition and innovation harmoniously to elaborate exhilarating styles.
The Quealy Winemakers Cellar Door is at the heart of the certified organic Balnarring vineyard, with immersive vibes into the winemaking process to satisfy curiosities, and conversations with knowledgeable, convivial hosts to inspire.
Amidst terra cotta amphora and oak barrels, taste and traverse wine from (perhaps) the oldest single vineyard Pinot Noir planting on the Peninsula, individual vineyard expressions of Pinot Gris, elegant Pinot Grigio and esoteric, trailblazing skin contact wines such as little-grown Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Moscato Giallo, Malvasia, and Riesling. Cheese plates accompanied by delightful edibles from our gardens can be booked online to follow your tasting.”
