Adam Foster of Syrahmi was a chef who became a sommelier, and then a winemaker. Ten years into his journey with his wine label, he’s now growing vines in Heathcote.
This is his love for Shiraz, or “Syrah” as it’s known in France and around the world.
Adam won back to back Young Gun of Wine People’s Choice trophies in 2008 & 2009.

South Australia has contributed more Young Gun winners than all the other states combined, and by a margin. There’s no question that South Australia has quality regions aplenty, from the cool of Basket Range in the Adelaide Hills to the more traditional stomping grounds of McLaren Vale and the Barossa, but what exactly is it that makes South Australia such a hotspot for young talent?

Lieke van der Hulst takes us inside a community of winegrowers in McLaren Vale who are making changes from the ground up.
This fire season, of course, comes during a sustained drought, water stress and record-breaking temperatures. Now more than ever, Australian consumers and wine lovers need to rally behind the industry and support our farmers, growers and wine producers. The most important thing is for tourists to return to the regions affected, as soon as it is safe, and to help producers by buying wine directly through their websites, where possible.
