The Pepper Tree winery was founded in 1991 and has been developed as one of the show places of Hunter Valley Wine Country. Pepper Tree produces premium varietal wines sourced from its own vineyards in the Hunter, Orange, Coonawarra and Wrattonbully viticultural areas.
Reporting to the Chief Winemaker, you will be a leader in the winemaking team and will have a desire to produce wine of the highest quality. This role presents the opportunity for someone to lead a small and passionate cellar team with great opportunities for you to grow and develop as a key winemaker in a leading winery.
Job Requirements
• Display a high degree of autonomy and self -reliance. Be highly organised and efficient, with an ability to effectively prioritise competing demands within a busy environment.
• Possess strong technical winemaking skills.
• Well-developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to delegate to and direct others to meet business objectives.
• Strong ability to focus on delivering to company expectations.
• To lead by example (this is a hand’s on cellar role) and maintain a happy cohesive team.
• Proven supervisory skills, vintage shift and non-vintage daily responsibility.
• Ability to train in, operate, and maintain a wide range of winery equipment.
• Experience in Laboratory operations.
• The highest standard of safety and housekeeping, with a willingness to meet high quality control and timing deadlines.
• Winemaking qualification (must be enrolled or have completed relevant tertiary education) minimum 5 years’ experience in the industry.
