St Kilda food and live music icon, Prince of Wales, will be the stage for fifty of Australia’s most cutting edge winemakers at Young Gun of Wine UNCUT, along with winemaker rock band, The Yeastie Boys. This promises to be the biggest wine-community party of 2016.

The event starts at 1.30pm with a tasting of around 100 wines from winemakers in contention for the 2017 Young Gun of Wine, whilst PBS and The Lucas Group’s (Chin Chin, Hawker Hall, et al) resident DJ Miss Goldie provides a soul backdrop. The perfect support act to all that wine, POW Kitchen and Cantina are dishing up South East Asian and Melbourne Tex Mex street food.

The tasting runs until 4.30pm. DJ Takse then serves up a disco set before The Yeastie Boys get on. Bass guitarist, Bill Downie (William Downie wines) said they’ve been hard at work on this show, “We’ve rebuilt our amps to go to eleven, so if we need that extra push over the cliff, we can go one louder.”

Matt Skinner (pictured) of The Drinks List, who started off at the Prince’s wine shop (Prince Wine Store), said, “It’s pretty amazing to think Nirvana played one of their only Melbourne shows at the POW Bandroom. I’ve seen Henry Rollins, and Ben Harper play there… so many great bands. You can’t underestimate the value of that room to live music in this city. One of the best gigs of my life was seeing Lenny Kravitz play…  I was working in the shop and snuck into the Bandroom after my shift to find Richard Branson had a Virgin Christmas party there for 100 people, and had flown Lenny Kravitz in for the occasion. And now the Bandroom gets to add The Yeastie Boys to that list. I can’t wait!”

Harry & Frankie is joining the party, hosting tours to help guide you through the wines if you’re looking for a slightly more educational experience. And Alquimie magazine is there too, with a live exhibit from their latest edition.

Running from 1.30-6.45pm, tickets are $45 via Eventbrite and include all wine tasting and entertainment, plus a gift wineglass from Riedel to take home. Street food from POW Kitchen and Cantina available for purchase. Numbers are strictly limited.
